Harry “Pete” Shaw, 283rd Field Artillery Battalion, came ashore Normandy in the third wave of D-Day. Pete waited 75 years to go back to Normandy and returned this year for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. He fought with Patton throughout northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. Pete helped rescue the 101st Airbornne that was surrounded by the Germans at Bastogne in the Battle of the Bulge and he was one of the first soldiers to free Dachau Concentration Camp.
