WWII Veteran Jack Thurman turned twenty years old during the battle of Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima was one of the fiercest battles of the Pacific Theater. Jack Thurman was in the first wave of Marines that landed on Iwo Jima, and he and his unit were pinned down for a week and half on the beach. Kim Monson with America’s Veteran’s Stories here.
