Young Minnesota farm boy Luther Bergeland shipped off to Europe in 1945. The 106th had been nearly decimated during the Battle of the Bulge so a new division was created with new officers and new men. Kim Monson with America’s Veteran’s Stories here. Luther Bergeland attended the Nuremberg Trials and remembers seeing the Nazi leaders awaiting trial. He also served in Korea as a field chaplain and was awarded the Bronze Star.
