Ret. Marine Major General James E. Livingston was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the Vietnam War in 1968. The enemy had repelled several attempts to capture their position. The assaults required crossing a rice patty. General Livingston and his men were determined to take the position and his men knew there would be a bloody cost when he commanded them to, “Fix bayonets.” Eighty-two Marines lost their lives in that battle and we owe them a debt of Gratitude.
